▪ ▪ ▪ Welcome to the portal to my life!
TeeKay discovered her love of writing at age seven, after winning first prize for a children's story in a school-hosted contest. She has since written in various modes, including poetry, news writing, academic research and technical writing. Though she enjoys exploring other writing venues, nothing nourishes her soul like her true love: short fiction.
Born into a military family, TeeKay possesses a wandering spirit that has helped fuel her passion for writing. Whenever she feels her fire waning, a trip to someplace new -- be it as far as the Caribbean or as close as the opening of a local coffee shop -- rekindles her need to record the wonders of the world and the people around her.
Supplementing her writer's soul is a calling to teach. Helping people young and old reach for and achieve their fullest potential gives TeeKay ultimate satisfaction. She believes the LORD God has given her a gift to encourage and to nurture the inner greatness of young children, and she is exceedingly blessed every day with the opportunity to fulfill this gifting for His glory.
▪ ▪ ▪ In pursuit of both her loves -- teaching and writing -- TeeKay completed a degree in English at the University of Texas at San Antonio in December 2010. She coordinates curricula and teaching methods for the children's ministry at her church, Living Waters Worship Center. She lives with her family in rural Texas.
